Ok it is no secret that i love tattoos and piercings, could people just be addicted to the pain of the tattoos and piercings, i have been known to take piercings out to let them heal over just to have them re - pierced about 3 weeks later? is it pain an addiction??

Yes someone can become addicted to pain, but there's a huge difference between getting some jollies from a bit of pain now and again and an addiction.
Pain can be just like any other sexual fetish. I think what happens is that pain and sexual stimulation become fused together in the psyche at an early age. And from then on, one cannot be experienced without the other.
Well, I think removing them just to put them back in again for the pain is an addiction, but who says that's a bad thing?
When i got broken in several places i had pain for a long time, when it went away i sort of missed it, at times wanting it back as i felt (hollow), it took some time to get over it.
google "bme video", and go to the first search result. I think I've mentioned this site before a long time ago. I would consider that as a usable example of people habitually hurting themselves (except no aesthetic payoff like tattoos and piercings).
