From what i have read the people working on LQG are attempting to do away with singularities, singularities are seen as a failure of other theories by them. I have no idea who is right but, the singularity does seem enigmatic.

Sure, it does me, this seems to be a mathematical duel that very few fully understand, maybe humans are stretching mathematical models to far? i really do not know.
