Why is that America is still the only country in the "free world" that carries on horrible practices like murdering convicts, allowing guns for everybody (as if you were living in mid ages), and debating some extra-stupid causes like banning abortion! America was the last country to abolish slavery, and it took it a civil war to do it... how many more decades will it take you to get guns off kids' hands? and will there be another war for this? why is American society different from European ones? I mean Americans used to be peasants but I suppose this is not the case now, so what is the problem there?

Money is as good a reason as any ...better than some. My guess is that some of those poverty-stricken Indians, living in hovels beside the open sewers would love to have some money. Baron Max: I did not say that America was a bad or nasty nation! In fact, I myself will be there soon, hopefully. I was only wondering about the difference between Americans and the British, French, German, Italian,...etc. I never saw a European priest holding that Noah carried dinosaurs along in his ark, such idiocies appear to be limited to America. There are many good things about the American system, many people outside America would say that the two American parties are virtually the same, since there is no real socialist party in America, but watching the last debate between Nicolas Sarkozy and Ségolène Royal of France, I immediately realized how sick French democracy is. That Royal socialist kept raving about so old-fashioned leftist slogans, which sounded like real jokes today, she was talking about increasing spending, increasing the numbers of civil servants, decreasing work hours, and still not exacerbate the budget deficiency! France is a country with great potentials but in a horrible shape right now, and it's all because there is a segment of that society, who are not smart enough, I'm sorry to say, who feel certain joy of being called "Leftists", and of clenching on out-dated failing ideas, believing that they are the "good" people against the "evil" rightist exploiters, it's just like a religion over there. And this has only devastated French economy; because of socialist "smart" ideas the productivity and the competitiveness of French industry is so down now, and capitals are fleeing to Britain and America, even rich people are leaving the country because or irrational taxation against them. American system didn't allow such nonsense, it is no point to have diversity that includes both what works and what does not, American diversity includes only what works. The flaws in American system are there, but they are relatively less important. Maybe there are Americans like sam who are comfortable with exposing the disadvantages of their society all the time, this is good and it's what makes good nations so, I do the same about my ambience here. But since I'm not American I don't feel restrained to admit good things about America and I won't be bragging (and I'm not kissing ass too, you can kiss my ass along with your country).
