The principle behind democracy is that every person affected by the state is able to influence the state. With this principle in mind, shouldn't the whole world be able to vote who the next american president would be?

PS: Non-americans are not allowed to vote on the poll.

    ...
    HAHA! Just kidding

For a start, it would be nice if all Americans were allowed to vote. (meaning prisoners and actually counting the votes correctly)

It would be interesting if the whole world were allowed to vote in the US elections.

The robots have also cast their vote. Either that or the new voting machines have crashed again.

    History of Voting Rights

During colonial times, the right to vote was limited to adult white males who owned property. Most women could not vote, though some colonies gave the vote to widows who owned property. After the United States became an independent nation, the Constitution gave the states the right to decide who could vote. One by one, the states abolished property requirements and, by 1830, all white male adults could vote.

The world suffers the consequences when the ignorant American public elects an incompetent criminal like Bush, even if only about 18% of us vote to begin with. Give the world the vote.

Only if Americans get to vote in everyone else's elections also. (I wonder how the French would like that?)

Non americans aren't allowed to vote for the american president and that's a good thing because otherwise it would proberly be ruled by some Indian or chinese.

However Americans are rather patriotic (read dramaqueens), and the rest of the world still has his opinion on the american presidency that results in a certain influence in america's political and especially the economical system.
The simple fact is that the current US presidents is a embarresment for the american people...

I think we should turn the question around and ask: seeing their choices, should Americans be allowed to vote, or should they choose a president by a random process???
