Imagine you are 17 years old and you are starting a new job as an apprentice plumber on a million dollar renovation job. The future open wide to you.. Think of the opportunities.. the money.. the training..

    Hmmmm...

He was reportedly very upset. I wonder why..

I am guessing this poor kid won't be asking for a reference..

there are no worst or best days of life. All is eternally silent and blissful. The kid should live on like nothing happened, change his name, and find another job.

    peace eternal.

    shit happens
As long as the person was not intoxicated or deliberatly burned the house down then it's still going to be the responsibility of his employer. So the kid is proberly going to be fine... but he wont be working for any plumber for a while.

in the link it states "in minutes the house burned to the ground".
unless an accelerant was poured throughout the house this is next to impossible.

perhaps the wood the house was made of was being replaced?
maybe it was full of old, dried, uncured wood?
    just a thought.

looking at the price of the house it's very possible this is some sort of insurance scam.

"The historic mansion in Kingswear, Devon, was undergoing a £2 million renovation , ...."

And for £2million you get a 17 year old rookie? I'd have his boss in court faster than my country pile burned down.

That's weird, what could he possibly have been doing that would've caused a fire like that overnight, I mean for cryin out loud it's a basic soldering job

In plumbing you solder with a blowtorch.
    Fires are fairly common.

For the past thirty years, just about all of them. At least on this side of the Atlantic. I would not expect a plumber to let a rookie of any age do on-site soldering, even with supervision. First you train him to do it in the shop. The kid should not have been set up to make such a blunder. In America we call this "criminal negligence," or at least "professional malpractice."

Ermm I think you would find that most do. Especially if they wish to enjoy safer drinking water.

As to the speed the house burnt down. Renovations usually equal having lots of materials in the house (paints, etc) that could act as an accelarant.
