If all these Americans moved to say Denmark or CANADA how would they consume less? AND what are you doing about the problem? As for myself I do all the shopping (my girlfriend works- and pays for everything), when i leave the register guess how many plastic bags are in my cart-NONE. When i am home alone guess how often the AC comes on-NEVER *Edited*
i wonder do they have cars and plastic bags and cell phone outside of the U.S.? when the game boys get delivered to their shores do they get there on the backs of pigeons? when they poop do the use fallen leaves for paper? do they (like i do) sit in 90 degree heat with an AC in the wall that never get's turned on? when they get their take out do they just plop it into their opoen palms? where do they plug all their computers into? do they flick a switch to turn on a light or use candles?
If you are not part of the problem, why so defensive? Are you sure the artist is not American? I think he is. I think this is a great way to help open the eyes of people who do NOT live their lives in a mindful, conservationalist manner, such as yourself. Did the artiost dedicate the series to you?
Yeah i know, i edited the first post. It's just that it's not an accurate picture to portray only Americans in this light. When it is happenening all over the world where the standard of living is the same, which is too many places to list. OR places where only the wealthy get these comforts. It wont change anything, unless we all decide to live in a hut in the woods. As for myself i actually do alot to conserve and probably consume less than most Europeans, South Americans, Asians, um Canadian's and wealthy communist's. But the main thing is that i am right and the numbers represent the larger poplution, so if the U.S closed it's borders in 1960 there would be alot less American consumer's....BUT of course they would be CONSUMING elsewhere. Here is what John is doing: 1- Was on an airplane once, probably never again. No interest. 2- Dont commute - dont work 3- Have not taken plastic bag from super market in 5 years, do all the shopping 4- No air conditioning 5- Dont own a car, my gf does but it's small and has low mileage 6- I am an American 7- Got my first cell phone today and i dont even like it much 8- Not one paper bill comes to my house Look at the paper use, where do they use paper most? Answer: in an office. Does anyone here think that an office in America uses more paper than one in Europe or India? he he he
I love it how when I post this, americans always try to share the guilt nobody is acusing the US of being the exclusive consumer/waster... the US statistics are just what was used in this guys photographies... talk about feeling guilty
The per capita consumption of Americans is higher than virtually anywhere else in the world. It's not that we have more people, it's that our people are total materialists.
