Just of interest; I came across it at Slog, the blog for The Stranger. Apparently they got it from Ms. Huffington's site, and I don't know the rest of the chain.

CBS News reported in 1972 on the Nixon re-election campaign; Dan Rather is the reporter. And sure enough, you can find one Karl Rove looking insanely Brady Bunch, talking about how to capture the younger voters for the GOP.

    Pretty fun: http://www.thestranger.com/blog/2007/04/rove_in_72

Imagine if modern TV coverage of a campaign were permitted to make the kinds of statements Cronkite is making in that video. What liberal bias he shows, talking about the realities behind the front of a Republican campaign ! Good thing modern journalism has higher standards than that - the Swift Boat folks would never have been able to enjoy their rights of free speech, with Cronkite looking over their shoulder.

There's an outside chance Rove will have worked on the campaigns of both Presidents forced to resign from office.

Not just Rove, but the Bush family, period. Nixon came to power thanks to Prescott Bush, GWB's grandpappy.
