You may have heard of the scandal involving the care of our wounded veterans at the Walter Reed Army Hospital.
Some think this is a sign we don't care about our veterans. The firestorm of criticism once this came to light proves that incorrect. The problem is simple, government run healthcare. Government is not good at providing any service. Go try to renew your driver's license if you don't agree. It's hell.

Despite the obvious deficiencies of government run programs, a large proportion of the American public supports "univeral healthcare".

Go into a specialists office now, what do you see? A pristine office, probably free cappuchino, immediate service. Once the governments in charge, we'll all be waiting forever in rat infested hell holes.

So enjoy your high quality healthcare while you can.

Actually I renewed it from here in AU and it went smoothly.

The USA implemented the Reduction in Paper Work Act and that has helped tremendously. Compared with the shit shitty shit shit AU bloated bureaucracy, America's is a dreamland....

I just renewed my Driver's license, and was out in less than 5 minutes. There is no excuse for providing bad health care to our veterans. Privatizing health care increases costs because it adds profit. We should not be making a profit taking care of wounded soldiers.

spidergoat, tell that to the House, they are the one who authorize the money for running, maintenance, and up keep for the Military Hospitals, instead of wasting tax payer dollars on endless investigations, how about using that money to increase the budget for the hospital care of the Soldiers and Veterans, and the upkeep of the system that is suppose to take care of them?

Investigations don't cost very much, and they often reveal situations like this where improvements need to be made.

The problem with government everything is the lack of responsibility.

Yeah, I agee. But it's also a problem of authority. Those in the higher ranks of authority refuse to give up any of that authority to those lower ranks who might actually see the problems and be able to do something about the problems.

I think we all know, deep in our hearts, that many, many people in the lower eschelons of the hospital knew of the problems and probably many of them complained and bitched about it. Where do you think the complaints went??

Exactly, it gets clogged in the incompetant chain of command.

All it takes is one person to fuck up.

So, Buffalo Roam, I believe you have some experience in this area, how easy was it for you to get care?

Be careful what you are saying, madanthonywayne. If government is so incompetent that it can't accomplish the task of giving decent health care for it's veterans, how can it accomplish anything? Like foriegn policy, like war. Let's just admit that it's not any government, it's this administration. How could they organize government if they don't believe in it? Except to bomb stuff.

spidergoat, it's always sucked, there are times you have to beat the door down. But when you get the care it has always been excellent.

So that whole deal about supporting the troops was pretty much a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

It's a leadership problem. A problem of this failed administration. A failure of the US military. The thought of competing profit starving HMO's scrambling to deny and delay care to soldiers is a truly scary thought. Keep profiteers out of military healthcare.

    Genji:

Why is our healthcare the highest quality in the world if private healthcare isn't wildly better than public healthcare?

The vast majority of Americans don't have access to our healthcare. Explaining why the US isn't even on the top 10 list of healthy nations. I watched my grandfather die of prostate cancer because the HMO refused to remove it, because of costs. Most elderly haven't the resources to pay thousands upon thousands for all the breakthrough care afforded to the super rich. We even used to have Canadian pharmacy outlets here in Kansas City because so many seniors and those chronically ill cannot afford their scrips. Many have to choose between food or medication. This system is set up to devour the remains of people's bank accounts at death. It's immoral to put a price tag on health care in a country willing to blow a trillion dollars on wars. There are busloads of middle class seniors that go to Canada for healthcare from here for a reason.

Genj, that's some pretty big hatred of the US system, not that's it's great. Hope you don't end up trying to go there if/when you need some treatment for some discease not common to your nation.

Disease not common with my nation? WTF?
Yeah, it's an unfair system based on wealth only. Those with millions have prime health. The working and middle classes do without alot of times and the poor get in line at underfunded overcrowded hospitals with overwhelmed staff and never go unless it's an emergency. In my job, which has above average health insurance I'd pay $500 per month for general coverage for myself if I were married or had any dependants. That was 10 years ago.

timmbuktwo, it's not hatred to understand the state of affairs in your country. Granted, Genji has no love for many US institutions, but in this case, we should at least be honest and admit our health care systems suck. Sure, we are the most advanced, which is paradoxical. High profile cases sometimes get cured for free or reduced cost, or they attract donations. Doctors want to advance their careers. Basic health care isn't so glamorous.

Okay, my appologies, it does sound like your system sucks for the commoners. And no offence meant Genj, but i thought you were from somewhere in the monsoon region.
