Hey Max, this is a real life poll on the popularity of the prez:

"But on Tuesday, the surprise was on Bush. In town to deliver remarks on the economy, the president walked into the diner, where he was greeted with what can only be described as a sedate reception. No one rushed to shake his hand. There were no audible gasps or yelps of excitement that usually accompany visits like this. Last summer, a woman nearly fainted when Bush made an unscheduled visit for some donut holes at the legendary Lou Mitchell’s Restaurant in Chicago. In Peoria this week, many patrons found their pancakes more interesting. Except for the click of news cameras and the clang of a dish from the kitchen, the quiet was deafening."

"Another woman, eyeing Bush and his entourage, sighed heavily and went back to her paper. She was reading the obituaries. “Sorry to interrupt your breakfast,” a White House aide told her. “No problem,” she huffed, in a not-so-friendly way. “Life goes on, I guess.”"

Maybe she was sighing because she forgot her gun.

Hm. I wonder what I would've done in that situation. I would have to decide between not disturbing the silence, as it speaks volumes, or walking up to him and calmly saying that his war is deplorable.

Of course, if I do the latter, there's a possibility I'll get arrested for assault.

    Decisions, decisions.

A lame duck President is not generally popular, almost by definition.

Freed from the need to act as if percieved to be liked, a good lame duck President can do pretty much whatever he pleases -- because most folks will bitch about whatever a President does in such a circumstance.

Frankly, I would find that to be a very liberating moment in my term.

And I'd happily give everyone some real reasons why disliking me would be exactly the mindset I want them to have.

All that pretentious language and you can't even spell "perceive", Mr. G?

    Tsk tsk.

A certain Prez called Bill, even when he was in his lame duck term, still had like a 70% approval rating...

But of course he didn't start illegal wars, at least not that one where lots of US soldiers died...

Bush ruins my appetite. He has no business going into restaurants.

Bill Clinton did not lead, he followed the polls. He did what was popular, so he was popular. Over the long term, his presidency will be seen as inconsequential. Bush did what he thought was right, he is a leader. Ultimately, he will be seen as the better president, by far.

If it weren't so tragic, that would almost be funny.

Bush was Groomed to be the president one day, by his Father after his father got into the CIA. He has no charisma, is dyslexic, doesn't give a Poot about You, nobody, and knows that you know this and doesn't care.

Type "failure" into the google search engine. Notice who's name is the first to come up. There is no better expression of Bush's legacy.

Yes, it's hard for one person to mess up the nation that badly. He had help.

... and the idiots are marching in.

Maybe that's how it should be done. After all the president is the employee of the country, and not the country is the slave of the president.

Bush doesn't do anything without someone is telling him what to do....

At this point I seriously have to consider putting you on Ignore...There is a limit to stupidity what I can stand....

    Spectators aren't players.

You hang out with your self-reinforcing litter mates. Nothing much maverick about that preference.

I dare to enter the lair of the philosophically inbred not of my own kind.

My kind doesn't need me. Your kind doesn't need me, either.

    But you do.
