Reagan sure did. Raking in the cash as he made speeches for $1M a pop in Japan as our auto plants shut down by the hundreds. He wanted minimum wage auto assemblers.
John Quincy Adams later was the defense lawyer at the Amistad slave ship rebellion trial. Andrew Johnson (the first president to be impeached) served as a US senator from Tennessee following his presidency. William Howard Taft later served as chief justice of the Supreme Court. Grover Cleaveland ran succesfully for the president after serving one term and losing his reelection.
Ex-Presidents are exhausted. Whatever you can say about any particular one, good or bad, they work their butts off and leave office looking about forty years older than they entered.
