SciForums - Doomed?

Have you noticed there have been some serious issues since the Website changed owners. Mostly with the server being offline or something else wrong with it's database. I find it somewhat amusing since James continues his moderation threatening people but it's likely he'll be the one banned, banned by default because the forums will eventually close down. I admitt any new owner will have difficulty understanding and incorporating their own programming, etc into a site like this. So what do you all think, answer the poll options available and let us know!

I don't think sciforums will close. It will simply be handed over to a new generation of posters, people more amenable to the new rules.

Im not bothered about the rules etc. I am more bothered that there doesnt seem to be as many posts. Also the quality of posts seems low these days. In fact I think you (sderenzi) are posting some of the best posts on the forum. Things must be bad

You have to realize that there are just so many topics... After a few years, it's due to get repetative and only actuality news/topics will provide something fresh...

 

I am not afraid of being banned. I know I won't.

However, SF will close one day. Whether it is the end of the world, the Internet fails, or someone decides SF is not worth the time and closes it without consideration of selling it or giving it away.

Everything comes to an end here on Earth.

 

i think that it will eventually close, the new leadership team is too unreliable

I hope this place burns in the fiery depths of hell everlasting pain misery suffering.

 

1) i dont think that the change over has resulted in any fundementally new rules, but i may be wrong.
2) the server issues are insignificant, so SF is down for a few hours here and there, this doesn't equate to anything.
3) 2) has no tangible bearing on the future of SF, if SF were to close it will be as the result of a conscious decision by brad and zox.

forums are pretty easy to maintain and run really, and this place has been going since '99 (correct me if i'm wrong).

stop with the doom n gloom people, it ain't a good look.

Sciforums is one of the best places on the net! Why is everyone saying the intellectual community of SF is going to die? Is there any better place than SF? I doubt it. This site is great. I know the admins may have shit-faced but hey, what can we say.

I don't stay at home any more. I live with my grandmother...

 

I think xev's long gone, and one of the aforementioned is here, but a shadow of it's former self.
