I'm bored so posting yet another question for all of you, if someone you know or you yourself were unable to properly care for yourself..... if you had someone else supporting you (government, etc.) would you want to live? If I were to have a stroke I'd rather they shoot me right there then keep me alive in a wheel-chair unable to have sex or move or even pee without them around, it would make me sick.
Thats why theres modern medicine. It depends on the disability, brain dead is not the same as suffering a stroke or being in a wheelchair.

This is not a very reasonable thing to do, as the loss of your testes may actually aid in quelling your obsession with sex. Actually, in light of the potential benefits, I encourage you to go to the kitchen right now, find a sharp knife that can make a clean cut, drop your pants, and sever them where you stand.

So if someone were paralysed or disabled where they needed assistance, they should not want to live because you wouldn't? Are you even aware that many people recover successfully from strokes? And many people manage quite well in a wheelchair without any assistance or help from other people. If you were in a vegetative state and were 'brain dead', just ensure that you are not resuscitated and you want the life-support machine turned off. Or better yet, you can ensure you are never ever resuscitated (in the event of a stroke or accident that renders you paralysed) by signing a DNR. That way you'd just die without knowing whether you could have been successfully rehabilitated or not to lead a life where you could pee by yourself and have sex. We live in a day and age where providing for the diasabled is no hindrance to society as it might have been for primitive tribes that had to continual move from one location to the next on the hunt, or when hunted. Think of all the contributions that Steven Hawking has made to science, as well as Madame Curie, even when she was dying of leukemia in a sanitorium. A similar question is: Should people with transmittable diseases or with genetically inherited diseases and deformities such as cystic fibrosis, Huntington's disease, sickle cell disease or Tay Sach's, and some forms of retardation such as Angelman syndrome, be allowed to reproduce? Thus degraded and degenerating society?
Depends entirely on the disability. If one is simply fat and can hardly walk or has no legs of course they shouldn't be killed, which is what I think the OP author is intimating. If you are in sub-Saharan Africa and can't walk or see it is likely best that person perished quickly, at least I would want to in such conditions.
This poll and the question is so vague.. I cannot answer. If I were a veggie, then yes. I am a waste of resources and time. If I am simply paralyzed... it really depends on my life's situation.

i was for along time.... almost bed ridden. i was in constant pain.... i cant even describe it to you. every morning... id set my feet to walk... and ooooowwwww.. the pain. i would pop 10 pills to start my day... and they barely worked. i would try pathetically to exercise.. to heat me up.. that helped. sometimes.. i could barely put my shirt on.. seriously. sometimes i could barely walk. sometimes.. my jaw swelled up.. and it hurt to eat. i was fatigued... tired... apathetic.. lethargic.. and about as messed up as i could get and still walk.. most people ive met with the same condition... stayed in bed. most people ive met... took alot of strange drugs from the docs. i wanted to die... often... BUT I WOULD NEVER QUIT. i refused to fucking stay down and die in bed. NO FUCKING WAY. I DONT CARE HOW FUCKED UP I AM... IF IM STILL ALIVE, THEN ITS ALL GOOD. IT DOESNT MATTER IF IM IN PAIN... IM STILL ALIVE. IT DOESNT MATTER IF I CAN BARELY WALK... IM STILL ALIVE. IT DOESNT MATTER... IF I CANT WORK, AND CANT FUNCTION... IM STILL ALIVE. IT DOESNT MATTER IF MY ONLY PROSPECTS IN LIFE WAS A WHEEL CHAIR. I WAS STILL ALIVE.... AND IM STILL ALIVE TODAY. i could of killed myself.. but then... i wouldnt of found my cure. I would rather die that live disabled. Of course other people may not think so, and I'm not saying that all disabled people should die. <I>I</I> wouldn't want to live like that; that's all.
And some people want to live despite being disabled. But is it right if they are made to feel a burden on society, becasue some poeple can't think why they would want to live in such a state? Do you really know what it is like to live like that? Are they truly unhappy?
