About half of Americans born at the turn of the 20th century had blue eyes, according to a 2002 Loyola University study in Chicago. By mid-century that number had dropped to a third. Today only about one 1 of every 6 Americans has blue eyes, said Mark Grant, the epidemiologist who conducted the study.

it is obvious that in time blue eyes will disappear in the miscigenation... it's a recessive atribute

It's not that there's nothing against blue eyes, just nothing for it - at least not significantly enough for it, anyway.

Again I ask, what's selecting against blue eyes? As far as I can tell, they're a desireable trait in a mate. There may even be slight selection for blue eyes.

Meh. Can't say eye colour influences me that much. However, the blue-eyed gene won't disappear, it'll just be less expressed.

nothing is selecting agains blue eyes roman, the problem is the miscigenation... when brown eyed person and a blue eyed person mate, there 100% probability of a brown eyed child... the only chance blue eyes have to continue existing is for blue eyed people to continue mating with blue eyed people only... and nowadays, eye colour is not nearly a decisive point

    Heh.
What's your point? If eye colour was a choice between blue and brown, you'd expect to see 25% blue eyes with no selective pressure. However, it's not that simple, so we see a lower expression of blue eyes. I'm not saying the gene will disappear, but that the phenotype will be less common.
