What? Prescription drugs sold illegally by shady Internet companies might not be safe to use? How shocking!

I didn't say I was shocked, I just said take a look at this :-Z~

I'm not surprised but the more disturbing thing is I saw a report on MSNBC about how these prescription medications are actually being sold in the US to pharmacy's when in fact they're entirely faked. People mostly with cancer, aids, and high cost medicines are getting these. There was a story about a woman with cancer who'd gone into remission but when she got her meds refilled she began getting sick again, they thought it was just fate but it turned out later the medication was dilluted to save money an basically had like 1/50 the potency of the original. This is what pharmacys are dealing with now!

Fake medications being sold to US pharmacies do not happen on a regular basis because their regulation standards are quite high and generally manufactured in the States. Packages containing meds from Canada or any other country are confiscated once detected so its no longer easy for people to buy online and be assured of delivery. Fake meds are generally a problem for developing nations where one doesn't necessarily need a prescription to buy medication but as mentioned these pharmacies are not regulated so chances are greater that a purchasing pharmacy will end up with meds that are outdated or fake. Americans wouldnt have to resort to online purchases from foreign countries if the the cost of needed medication wasn't so costly. For example a packet of valium (30 tablets 10mg each) in Cambodge costs roughly $5, a box of cipro (antibiotic) approximately $2 or $3.

This is hardly a surprise, at least in the USA. Several years ago the government launched a shrill campaign to scare the citizens into buying their drugs only from their campaign contributors in the American pharmaceutical industry--drugs which often take years to be approved by the politicized and bureaucracy-laden Food and Drug Administration and then are banned again when they are discovered to have a risk like everything else in life. They have made it extremely difficult to buy cheaper prescription medicines from foreign countries--even from government-trained pharmacists in government-licensed pharamacies in the socialist paradise of Canada.

For a long time the U.S. Postal Service had a policy of intercepting packages from Canadian pharmacies and only recently lifted this ban for shipments to private citizens. Meanwhile people who live close to the Mexican border routinely have their prescriptions filled in pharmacies there.

Anyone who doesn't understand the risk of buying medicine from a foreign country over the internet hasn't been paying attention and in America it is everyone's responsibility to take charge of their own life.

MSNBC is hardly a reputable source of news. 24-hour cable news stations typically have no "news" to report for 12 hours so they scramble to find something that will alarm viewers and keep them watching. Since most Americans are innumerate one of their most effective tactics is to sensationalize risks without doing a proper risk analysis. This report of the cancer patient is probably more or less true but in a huge country it's not hard to find instances of wrongdoing if you have lots of employees trained to search for them. It does not signify a general breakdown of the pharmacy industry.

As a reference standard for risk management, remember that several hundred Americans are killed by bees every year and absolutely nobody worries about it.

Shit article, from an Indian website. Indian media is like the laughing stock of the world media. Its a joke. They can't spell, in one of the national Indian news papers they claimed get this "the Taj Mahal was a Hindu temple where god Shiva was born" wtf? It was a built buy a Muslim called Shah Jahan. And furthermore, how does a mythological god be born? I was laughing so hard when I was reading that!

African killer bees first appeared in the USA 30-40 years ago and have been crossbreeding with the native species. I'm pretty sure that most deaths due to bee stings are from these "Africanized" hybrids.

Some people actually have such a strong allergic reaction to the toxin in bee stings that they can be killed by ordinary honeybees, although it generally takes at least a small swarm to do it, not just one sting. However, they almost all know who they are and they either live in urban environments where there are no bees or they carry the antidote with them at all times. Still, a few people don't find out about this until they encounter a swarm and die.
