Firstly you can see a lot of filming of Madonna in Africa, Umm doesn't seem a private affair at all. She also has a childrens book out next month, ummmm! A few year back Madonna also headlined a UK TV Charity event here in the UK called Children in Need. As it happens the program was on the Friday and her new Album was released on the Monday. It went striaght to number 1 in the charts, Ummm surprise! Does anyone else have some evidance or views?

Heh! I unfortunately caught this story this morning on the news, which reported that her assistant and bodyguard were accompanying the child to the UK. Hmm she wants to adopt him but she can't even be there to pick him up from the orphanage herself and fly back to the UK with him? In amongst all the negatives - the obvious publicity value, the politically correct do-gooding, etc. - there remains the fact that one african child will now have a life it previously couldn't even have dreamed off. Is this really a bad thing? Would it have been better if she'd just gone on a million-dollar shopping spree? Not that I think of the child as a commodity. I'm sure she doesn't either. Is she wrong to save one child from a life of poverty and hopelessness just because she can't save the rest? She's a smart woman. I'm sure she's put a lot of thought into it, and considered all the negative aspects - then decided to go ahead and do it anyway. I share your doubts, and hope that this doesn't start a wave of celebrity third-world kiddie-shopping - but I'm not sure that, in this case, the open cynicism is justified.
Assuming the adoption goes through. Those commenting on the subject should be aware she has a temporary custody order for a year and a half aproximately. Soo... Do any of you realise she is also funding a school being built over there ? Soo... Let us put this in context. She is investing maybe a million if not a few hundred thousand in the school. and... Assuming the adoption goes through, she will be committing a few million to the life of this child she has adopted who no doubt in the future shall hopefully become an advocate for an african cause and further the public interest hopefully enough to stop the genocide going on there at the moment. obviousely with rival tribes poisoning the wells that are being funded by westerners is hardly helping their cause but those poisoning the wells are not those wanting to step up to a peacefull life.
