I was watching a hockey game some while back (NHL) and was trying to get into it. It was a home game for the San Jose Sharks. They were playing and were losing (normal for them). Finally, they evened up the score. At some point, with a 3-3 tie, the refs blew their whistles, the game stopped, and they took the San Jose goalie out of the game. The announcers gave no explanation. Nobody said anything about a foul or anything else. Lo and behold, the other team racked up 3 points, a lead the Sharks (or Guppies) never recovered from. He didn't look hurt, so I'll have to go with the equipment thing. I don't know anything about what they are and aren't supposed to wear. That makes sense, because they sent him to the penalty box. Thanks!
