I was just wondering if anyone here is going to buy an HDTV soon and if so how big. I'm really interested in getting a newer television since mine is from 1993. No comments needed just complete the poll.

You should spend the money on hookers and blow instead.

Bought one recently, a Pioneer 43". If I had the space I would have got one around 60". By the time they're 'cheap', there'll be newer technology out that will knock spots off HDTV, so what's the point in waiting?

Lets see one HDTV=at least three weeks for motels, hookers and good quality 8 balls.

    - nah, i overestimated about a week and a half/

DeRenzi, do you have an HD connection now? i have HD and it is much better. Basically it is just higher bandwith and of course 16x9.

I don't watch enough TV to make it a worthy investment.

Not interested. I have DVR and a DVD player. That's as much as I'm willing to spend on TV.

I'm going to get one soon. I"ll probably go with a 32 inch. Because I don't watch TV enough to spend 2 Grand on a 42.

    No.

Don't have a TV. Will not get one either.

Stop buying all that crap and do something useful.

    Like hookers and blow.

If you're gonna spend $1k or more on your TV, buy a projector instead. Same picture quality but an even LARGER viewing screen. They're friggin' awesome!

The best bang for the buck with the best picture quality in it's price range is the Optoma HD-72 at around $1800-2000 and you'll also usually get a free bulb with it too. It competes with projectors twice it's cost. I laugh when I see people with their $4-6k plasma TV that's only 40-60" when I spend half or less than theirs for up to a 150". Have your own personal movie theatre or concert room. It's amazing!

Projectors are great but only really effective in a very dark room, ideal for a dedicated home theatre combined with a beefy surround system.

Nothing beats a CRT as far as picture quality, the plasma's and LCD's are nice because they're so thin and throw off less heat but both have drawbacks too.

I have a 51inch rear projection HD, it's about 8 years old and still going strong. I would look into DLP but who wants to buy a new TV when I could buy a Fender Strat, LP or Fargen amp for less money.....uh or health insurance

That was true a few years ago, not today. There are some very bright projectors that can be seen in a white room with all the windows open.

They say that the HD Revolution is like the revolution from Black & White to Color

By 2009 everything will be in HD from radio stations, local TV stations, Televisions, movies (BluRay/HD-DVD), etc....

Shame there is nothing worthwhile watching in high definition.
