I know my laptop sends out surreptious signals to the manufacturer at every bootup.

Zonealarm does not detect these, even when the signaling takes place after ZA is activated. One prog I found that does stop the signals is McAfee Internet Guarddog. But the MIG causes lots of crashy complications. (in W98SE)

Further, I know that all laptops come with a 'GPU', geo positioning unit. This is to help recovery after it gets reported as stolen. How do I delete this 'GPU' or identify it in the mobo?
