Satire about the APA's Statement on Reorientation Therapy

Attached is the APA's resolution statement on reparative therapy.

    APA's Resolutions

I supply my own satirical version of the APA's statement. By the way, I have a bit of a weight problem. I can laugh at myself, no?

Now I have my list of reasons for being obese. Please help me with them:

    1) Obesity is genetic. Obese persons have a gene that slows down their body metabolism, and hence they gain weight easily.

    2) Eating is a natural bodily function that every human needs. My needs are just a little greater than other folks.

    3) Marriage discriminates against the obese. Who would want to marry me unless I shed several pounds? What good is our right to marry if we can't use it because of social pressures?

    4) God hates shellfish, but ohhh do I love them!

    5) Obesity is like left-handedness. Skinny folks are like righthanded.

    6) Overweight persons are discriminated against as a class. We deserve civil rights based on our Body Mass Index.

    7) As we normalize obesity in american society, all obese person's should be accepted as they are, and weight-watchers and other weight-loss programs should be banned. Besides, they don't work anyway.

    8) Obesity is not a behavior, it is who I am.

    Have fun!

Gone to a gentler, kinder, and much much larger forum.

I believe it's against the law to regulate(and enforce) what people think about other people.

    Woody:
You're parody is pretty poor. If you're going to parody an individual, you shouldn't misrepresent their most basic of arguments. The fact that you do so is rather dishonest.

And by the way, I thought that you were going to piss off, and leave the rest of us alone? Apparently you lack the willpower to hold to promises that you make yourself.

Did I misrepresent my weight? My scales don't lie. I believe in civil rights for fat people. Are you saying my arguments are flawed? Prove it.

    Obesity is pornographic? How so?

Maybe you're reading too much into it.

I suppose I'm puzzled by the purpose. Satire, perhaps, but I can't say I disagree with the satire. Maybe I just need to read closer, but, depending on the obese person, I can't imagine that certain folks enjoy wheezing, moving slowly, and smelling worse than Frenchmen. (Okay, okay, but if you're American, you ought to realize the punch of that one.)

In the meantime, why would anyone want to marry someone who regards them as a "fixer-upper"? Is the desired spouse, then, a trophy or sex object? (Marriage is such a freaking mess, and we have nobody to blame for that but heterosexuals.)

I'm talking about your obsession with homosexuality. You need to come to terms with that desire. You just rationalize it by thinking you oppose it.

The OP is about being fat. Can't you stay on the subject? What are you so hung up about? I thought you wanted to stop talking about THAT. Isn't that YOUR sacred cow anyway?
