Yo la tengo has a new album coming out. Here is a snippet from an interview: --------------- Amy Phillips reports: Hey, James McNew! What's the title of the new Yo La Tengo album? "I Am Not Afraid of You, and I Will Beat Your Ass." Uh, really? "Yep." Seriously? "Yeah. Seriously." Wow. Can you explain the title? "I don't think it needs any explanation." ---------------- That is classic. Another album title I like off the top of my head is: 'They Threw Us All in a Trench and Stuck a Monument on Top' by the Liars You got a favorite?
Why, Stereolab, of course! Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements. Mars Audiac Quintet. Emperor Tomato Ketchup. Dots and Loops. Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night (especially). Sound-Dust. Margerine Eclipse. Need I say more?
zarkle, that is a good title also. i liked that album more than most. dig that 1st song. still not a better album than the 1st however. you just cant beat songs like mr yer on fire mr. i dont like their new one much. half the songs are throwaway.
I think about half the songs on Drowned are worthless on their own as well, but that one and Drum's Not Dead are really meant to be listened to as complete albums. For example, I cannot imagine listening to the first and third tracks on Drowned, which are both excellent songs on their own, without the second track as a segue. The new album is still growing on me each time I listen to it, but I would already place it in my top three or four of the year.
