I seem to focus almost solely on sciforums and was wondering if you guys and gals have some other sites you like. I need another good site or two for the down-times here. If you do, please provide a link to it in your posts. Other forums or just cool sites where you can waste time. Whatever you like.

I frequent Arnie's Airsoft forum, tis good if you want to talk about that sort of thing but it's a bit of a niche.

I'll tell you what really surprised me; MySpace. I always thought that site was for emos and chavs...well, I was right but you do get to meet some interesting people. It seems that I am quite the celebrity in China which is awesome. My face has somehow been missed by the chinese blocking system

Thanks duendy. I'll give it a try, but I don't think I could ever quit this place. It is like my second home. As to the cotton, I love it too. When we were kids, we'd help my dad when he was stripping (modern version of picking) it. We'd be in the trailer that the stripped cotton would be dumped into, and we'd jump up and down to pack it down tight so there would be room for more in each trailer. At that point, the cotton would still have all kinds of burrs and stems and things still in it, so it wasn't really soft, but it was like jumping on a trampoline.

When we were really young, my grandpa had an old stripper that pulled the trailer behind it as it went down the rows stripping the cotton. The stripper continuously "poured" cotton into the trailer while we were in it, packing it, so it was like it was raining cotton. Pretty cool huh?

Yeah, I never had to pick cotton by hand, but I can imagine it would be very hard and very boring. The people that did have to pick it must have had very harsh lives. I did do a lot of hoeing. Walking up and down every row of cotton and getting all the weeds with my brothers. Moving irrigation pipe at 5 in the morning getting all cold and wet and muddy. Driving tractors for various reasons before I was 7. Having liquid fertilizer accidentally dumped on me. Shit. That sucked. Picking up rocks out of the fields and throwing them on flat-bed trailers. Wasn't easy, but that's life.

somewhile back i spontaneously taped these real authentic slave songs from a radio station i was listenin to

you hear one of the slaves picking cotton say 'go down Hannah....gooo down Hannah' 'Hannah' is the sun

i had a family relative whose been to Deep Suth and she explained to me how fierce the heat is there....how she and her friend would run from te car into air conditioned rooms

the thoght of being out in searing hot sun, slashin yer finger s up, backbreakin picking cotton. must have been hell

Yaussa. That's me. We never made butter, but we did milk a few cows and have the milk for breakfast. We had hens too and collected and ate the eggs as well. We had horses and rode a lot. Castrated our own calves and pigs. All the good stuff. Heh. Good memories.

Duendy, yeah, it can get hot here. 115 F at the hottest usually. It's a dry heat though.

LOL. It's a very annoying sound. My grandfather had some mean-ass pigs. Big pigs that would attack us if we got in the pen with them, so we didn't.

I participated in the guitar.com discussion board for 4 years, but the mods started to ruin the fun and the site was hacked twice. then everybody migrated to a site called threeepointstance created by one of the users and now everybody just do anything they please there. i left after the hackings, i got into so much trouble i thought it would be wise to stay away. but it was fun.
