Last time I checked they were still at 18 million civilians and NYC was hovering just over/under 10 mill !?!?

Anyway for those of you who need referance Here !

I was aware of Mexico City though, seeing How Mexico and India are two of the fastest growing nations in the world. I was a bit suprised to find out that the largest city in India was "Mumbai" and not New Dehli, but the size doesn't really suprise at all.

*EDIT* I did miss the front page criteria, Still pretty fucking huge Metropolitan areas!

"NOTE: Numbers shown include population within the recognized metro area of the city, and they include"

I think it was predicted in the 60's that by now, India would have a city of 60million.

The definition of a modern city is far different from the 'original' one. There are more people in Tokyo then there were in all of medievel Europe at one time.
