In a democracy/republic, the politicians are trying to buy votes of fringe elements by professing big tent, moral tolerance. It does make for moral decline in the population, which later makes for moral decline in morals of the politicians elected from this population. Strange, Hillary Clinton is still married to Bill, and I can give you examples of Republican leaders that have gotten divorced, had abortions, and cheated on their wives. A democracy and free market has a high correlation to individualism, Add to this individualism a large dose of relativism wherein all viewpoints are considered to be equally valid and you have a prescription for your rampant immorality. Btw; all these immoralities have been committed since time began but there was always a castigation and social stigma which somewhat kept alot of it in check... A woman would be less eager to rush into single motherhood if she was looked at as committing a social foul as opposed to the social climate nowadays where an unwed mother doesn't stand out as abnormal. Society has deemed unwed motherhood to be a bad thing only because we as a whole we fail to take care of each other. In other words, our society is inherently immoral. A small tribe, however, is a different story. The relationship of the parents would not matter at all, nor the identity of the father. Family values are immoral, since it really means a lack of community values.
