ok,first off...i am thinking of pursuing a career in politics, maybe even trying to be president of the US.

some background: im 15yrs old.i live in CA.im white.born in US(CA ofc).real good education i think(im in all advanced classes ie precalculus, chemistry,APeuropean hist.,and spanish 5-6(needed here in southern CA) etc.. i come from a family with no political ties.my family is relatively well off,ie single income ~65k/yr(dad deceased '01).i have done alcohol and pot a couple times(if thats relavent..probly not(bush alcoholic etc..)) my high school is public and just an "avg joe" school, but the best-ish school in my district(and other iirc)

ok,not even on the block yet to be "fresh off the block" but w/e..i want to know what would be required to become a governor, senator, president.i dont mean whats on the books but things like who i'd need to know,*what* i'd need to know/learn,and i need some help getting the full view of some world and national issues.

id like to know a few things:
1)is it possible to be president with my no-political-ties background to become president?

2)comments on background relating to other presidents and california senators

3)what i need to *do*(ie: classes, ppl to know, raising money or something) to be (a) governor of CA (b) senator (c) president

    4) what experience ill need before taking on these jobs(ie: governor's speechwriter? some office helper etc? mayor? etc..)

(i havent taken UShistory or economics classes yet so im "ignorant" on these things)

    5) (CA only here) what did grey davis do to fk up CA? what did arnold promise to about it? what did he really do about it? what needs to be fixed now? what moral issues are coming up in CA(ie: stem cell research in CA[?])?

    6) do i need to be a governor before a senator? do i need to be a senator before i become a president? what ppl do i need to "get my back" to become (a) governor (b) senator (c) president?

ok,imagine im president, and i have NO clue about ANY issue in the US atm, becuz i just,i dunno, fell out of the sky into the oval office or soemthing...
now think,ur my aide, and i want to be informed on important issues.what would u inform me of?(ie: NO idea about iraq, katrina, moral issues etc)

    7) what issues should i address in my campaigning?

    8) alllll the moral issues from gay marriage to porn to stem cells to iraq to drinking ages.. plz

    9) what would make 1) you personally 2) general americans vote for me?

    10) once ppl posts issues with facts about them,in an organized and chronological way,i will respond with my opinion on the issue, and why i have that opinion.no one has bribed me.i have no set-in-stone opinions about any issue in the last 30yrs,so here is where you get to have oodles of fun trying to convince me of ur point of view on an issue!

    11) please address this post in a serious, complete, informed, logical and organized way, no flames kthx

    [/submit] *whew*

PS: i dont watch TV much(screw the advertising industry.super size me kicked ass!),i never listen to the radio.the most news i get about events is from this forum..so..yeah..plz present issues in a mostly-unbaised-way

a PHD in politics would probably be a good start, maybe a double degree in politics and the law or something like that

edit to add you might want to start taking an interest in both local and world affairs because you will be the one effecting them and you should start reading things like the whitehouse miniutes, looking at whatever the yanks call question time working out where you stand and WHY on issues and then pulling your own arguments apart to see how the other side sees you, geting involved in debates

Can you get a PhD in Political Science?
    Does it go that high?

    mephisto,
You have NO political ties, and see your first step as Governor.
That's likely to present you with a problem.
You need to draw back your reigns a bit.
Start by volunteering for political campaigns.
    Learn somthing about the process.
Get involved locally. Locally doesn't mean governor -not even mayor- locally as in city council member.
a LOT of US senate and above level politicians were lawyers first, but it is not necessary.
You should certainly focus on Political Science in school.

    I recommend this book

join young reublicans or young democrats ect

but first you need to identify who your aleagences are closer to and to do that you need to start taking an interest in issues. Your like a kid who wants to know how to be a 5 star chef but cant even work out what a stove is. To start you need to take an intrest of your wasting your time

if you refuse to watch what is going on in the counrty, and have no political background, what is your motivation for wanting to become president? you think the house is pretty?

hmmmmmmmm... that's not a bad reason to be a president at all!
think about it -> most people who want to govern other people are not suitable to be good leaders and generally are self centered arrogant political whores,
people who have no desire to govern how other people live would probably make great leaders

if you dont pay attention to what is going on i your country then you obviously dont care what goes on in your country. do you want someone running the country that doesn't have any interest in it?

but if they have no desire to govern, then they may neglect their duties. the only way to do it is to give more power to the poor, it is the poor that are at the recieving end of every goverment action, and they therefore have more political insight than anybody. its all very well to go and look at figures for 4 years and get a degree, but until you see the human side of those figures you dont have enough of a connection for them to really matter.

'it is the goal of the rich to attain more power through welath, it is the goal of the poor to attain equal wealth through power'

if only there was a way to do that. its probably one of those stupid things most kids feel, but ive always thought my dad would make a great president. he's always babbled his opinions and ideas during dinner or whenever he had the oportunity, lol, and i think he has a very unique yet realistic view-point on ways to improve our country.

btw, what is your name little boy who wants to run a country while never watching the news and caring nothing about it? i want to know who NOT to vote for.
