Tom DeLay, being held on charges that could be lifetime in prison is still faithfully doing his job of intimidating and using dirty politics to get what he wants. When the repubs found themselves short by 15 votes they sent Delay, Hastert, Blunt and others out to intimidate and use dirty politics to sway people to vote for what they wanted. A vote that was alotted 5 minutes went 40 minutes longer than it was supposed to, giving Delay and co. time to get the votes they needed. Once they got it to a 212-210 vote the speaker quickly ended the session and the neocons once again did what they do best.
The bill itself was more reprehensible than the tactics used to pass it. "The bill weakens state and federal environmental standards ... and gives a break to wealthy oil companies while doing little or nothing to affect oil prices," complained Rep. Sherwood Boehlert, R-New York, one of 13 Republicans who voted against the measure.
