http://www.newscientistspace.com/article.ns?id=dn7751 "An object possibly twice the size of Pluto has been found - hiding in plain sight. The discovery could be the biggest world in the Kuiper belt of rocky objects that orbit the outer reaches of the solar system." It was very possible that some great body was hiding from our view. Perhaps there are more Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Indeed, there are no doubt a lot more out there, but the size of this one (if larger than Pluto) would be a bit surprising… Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! The icy object, 2003 EL61, is at least 1,500km across, though it <i>may</i> turn out to be larger than Pluto, which is 2,274km across. It orbits just beyond the orbit of Pluto, but not beyond the range of our sensors... I have a few sketchy coordinates for the object on this webpage… (it needs javascript turned on- there are no ads) http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/blobrana/database/TNO1.htm
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/050729_large_object.html I'm sorry to say this, but new info suggests that the object is 70% the diameter of Pluto
