Technically I think that'd be covered by the computer science board, but I've got to agree that a section with a more narrow focus would be useful. The computer science section tends to fill up mostly with tech-support type questions more than anything else.

Then wouldn't it be more reasonable to create a 'tech support' sub-section?

It would be more reasonable, but it isn't necessary.

    Mhh, newbies with their ideas....

yeah we could have sub forums like that, hmmph interesting.... coding forums could include :

proceedural coding, asm coding,OOPs or Pure OOP paradigm type coding, then cripting, shell codes and scripts etc..

then we could have a seperate hardware forum.
then we could have a tweaking forum...
it goes on....great stuff really. i am all for diversification of comp sci forums since they are in my belief too general.

I suggest then you try some specialised computer forums
    There are many out there

essentially we are talking of specifics here, it would only help to categorize the postings better, plus Comp Sci forum is nothing more than a problem or troubleshooting forum...

Tech support would be a good idea. Very good idea. Much of the action in the computer section is about advice about viruses and adware and crashes and blah blah.

Not at all. Currently we are talking in two discussions, you and I,
and those are not about troubleshooting.

p.s. Not that I am against a tech support section

    Its like this Av :
1.) Its either : Windows Vs World (in which not obfuscatingly World wins and windows by Microsoft looses) threads
    2.)Games threads
3.) then we have a hardware trouble or a software code trouble thread.

so essentially we are narrowed down to these topics, right? (may be some more to add). Are these aspects of computer science? i am not so sure. We seldom discuss more technical stuff, some more of futuristic designs, compiler design, PDAs,automata, computer theory..To be more specific, we havent discussed the correct form computer science. If we are talking of hardware , then why not discuss topics like pipelining, parallel computing, PLAs, Hypethreading and stuff like that....you know just to be more on the interesting side, instead of just...well you know what i am thinking right?
