I was watching CNN money line the other night and I watched this avid freemarketeer attempt to explain and rationalize why the unemployment rate was still going up , even as the Bush administration was claiming more new jobs were being created. I watched this clown and some bubbleheaded assistant juggle unemployment figures , economic statistics and present this as a positive economic equation . Needless too say it was less than convincing........ Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment. Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 23.( 1 )
Wow! This is probably one of the most violated laws in the history of mankind..... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
And if you read the Declaration Of Human Rights you will see why no nation on the Earth would dare enact this legislation because it is true democracy .
scratch my last question, it appears the US has a massive 5.2% unemployment rate, now can you see what bush caused
Oh, the sweet irony of it all..... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Not so fast. Unemployement rates are not necessarily bad. It could mean that the economy is advancing and that new more automatic technology is being used, which would reduce the costs. But again, that would require many adjustments in the economy, so as to maximaze production per capita. For instance, reducing work hours to employ more people. In the other hand, the unemployment in BC is above 7% right now, and that was caused by lowering tax rates for big corporations, which made them more compatitive then small business, which ended up going bankrupt and everyone lost their jobs. This is likely what is going on in the US. Take for instance the news in question: So the question we need to ask ourselves is: is this a multinational corporation or a small business? I think the answer is pretty obvious.... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Obviously the point is lost on you . They are if you were to add those who are in part time employment , seasonal employment those on welfare but in work shemes you would see a figure much closer to 15% to 25% that are fully unemployed or under employed . I used that shut down to illustrate the diametrically opposed economic events being presented . And by the way how many major American corporations have collasped in the last 7 years ?
Well, I was just being really sarcastic..... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! And those who gave up on finding work. But my point was to demonstrate the fact that even tough technology causes economic growth, it also causes unemployment, and that needs to be taken care off, which is what I suggested. I understand. And I picked it up and put it in a greater context. I have no idea. Do you have any statistics? I would love to know.
Found some interesting stuff while looking for the answer...... http://www.wsws.org/news/1998/dec1998/econ-d05.shtml http://www.socialistaction.org/news/200207/mci.html http://www.stress.org/job.htm http://www.finfacts.com/usscandals.htm http://www.finfacts.ie/bankruptcy.htm Apparently, 25 bankrupcies since 2002, all caused by greed..... I could care less if the price of products go down when it comes to people becoming unemployed as a result. Let's see, prices go down but people lose their jobs so they can't even buy those less-priced products. Or, people keep their jobs and prices stay the same or go up which allows them to at least buy stuff, even if not as much as they normally could (if prices goes up). What good is low prices when people don’t have money period to even buy those products? 5.4% unemployment rate? Heck, it's probably a lot higher than that because it doesn't even take into consideration people that are unemployed but not getting any benefits. Each time I've been unemployed, I've never filed for unemployment. I don't like being a leech so I do on my own what I gotta do to survive and I doubt I’m the only one. - N
That's the problem with better technologies...... :bugeye: So what you are saying is that we shouldn't have better technology and higher living standards. Well, the rate doesn't take into consideration a lot of people (underemployed, those that gave up on finding a job....)...
Well I had outsourcing in mind, not better technologies. But even when it comes to new technologies freeing up jobs, that still creates new jobs to focus on that type of technology. Computers as an example need IT, programmers, etc, not to mention the various types of things one can do with a computer such as online trading and whatnot. - N
It doesn't matter. It still destroy more jobs than it creates. Would it be possible to have an automatic or almost completely automatic society? Yes, why not? We just need enough technological advancement. How many jobs would there be in this case? Not many.
