Who closes threads and why shouldn't there be some explanation or do they have an expiry date?
Should gay couples be allowed to adopt children was still being visited and replied to often enough to be left open? What is the go with that?
Was someone being offended because if that is the case why not address that issue? (of the person being offensive!)
I for one am appalled that this thread was closed and would like an explanation!
If you are not aware of this thread click here
Either a good explanation or reopen the thread!

The topic was sprawling. Some complaints were raised. It's spent some time out of circulation while I read through it to see how much of a mess there is to clean up. It's not a particularly high priority; to a previous public inquiry regarding the topic, my response included, "I'm of the opinion it's all the same if the topic starts anew" (click here).

Perhaps I would be more sympathetic to the topic if it wasn't so lopsided a discussion. At present it seems like an exercise in futility. Nonetheless, if you want it open, that's fine with me. Try asking nicely, next time.

Jolly Rodger, have you always had this ability to be rude and offensive or did you have to go to community college?

I was wondering why so many threads get shut down. Then I gave the moderators the benefit of the doubt and assume they are balancing the idea of sending the thread to the cesspool (which would also move any good parts of the thread), and shutdown.
Also, if they are reading all this shit, they probably don't want to waste endless time moderating a discussion that has gone south.

All that having been said, I still think there is too much shutting down happening.
I would like at least one in five threads you moderators plan to shut down to be left alone, i.e., back off by at least 20%. That is my suggestion, although I know it results in more bs for you. By the way, I'm sure most people here appreciate the time you put into this, I do.

acually cole my post was missleading

    i AM a mod

but that doesnt change the fact that we serve for dave's pleasure. Its his site and his rules say everyone must post nudes of themselves as there avatars or get banned thats HIS choice. If you dont like the rules fuck off

When I saw your post I checked and saw that you are currently moderating a few forums, so I wasn't misled at all.

I didn't say you would agree with my perspective immediately, just that it will infiltrate your mind. The damage is done.

I do appreciate the time you guys spend on this. I'm not being sarcastic.

cole you just dont understand at all

let me explaine it to you

how much money, time and energy do you put into this site?
did you read either the terms of service or any of the forum rules?

Dave runs this site, dave PAYS for this site, dave mantaines this site and if dave decides tomorow that this site is junk dave can DELETE this site

its HIS site to do whatever he wants with and if he decided that he wanted to make it a porn site he could. We are here as his guests and as such we all follow his rules, both the members AND the mods. Free speach doesnt exist here, if you want to yell something that we deem unworthy it gets deleted. If dave doesnt agree it he tells us we are wrong and we back down. Dave is the final authority here, its as simple as that. HIS SITE, HIS RULES

    all hail the sciforums god!!!!

PS just for your infomation i have been here off and on for 3 years. All that time new members have tried to "rebel against the system" here just like you are and everytime this has been shown to be pointless. Learn to be a willow, bend with the brease and you will be alot happier

I don't think you understand my point. I think the moderation system is probably close to perfect, considering the amount of energy and time it takes to do it. I am not interested in fighting anyone's internet system.
You can do whatever you want. I will continue to say whatever I feel is appropriate. I am not the one who has been attacking the moderators, other people have been denigrating the choices made in some of the appointments. I simply made a suggestion (directly related to the topic, although no where near as negative), and then I joked to you that somehow my suggestion would infiltrate your mind. If you cannot take a suggestion, and by take I don't mean accept it, just hear it without being offended, well, I think that is sad. Especially when at least 20% of my words on this thread have consisted of obviously sympathetic and appreciative language. ***warning - the previous sentence contains a slightly veiled message reinforcing a number that was brought out in my original thought***

***warning - this post contains verbage intended as humor***

Asguard as a moderator is a bit of a joke on us I think. We're being baited. They're saying "what? You got a problem with asguard as a moderator?" with a huge grin on their face. Wanting us to react.
That seems to be the reasoning behind his position, so don't be mislead cole.

    LOU,

Your post brings out a good point.
I probably shouldn't have said "at least 20%". That might be too high. I recant on that, and make a new suggestion to back off on the thread shutdowns by at least 15%. Hahaha. Whatever.
I am just surprised at the reaction I got, there was a lot of honest appreciation expressed in my posts.
Also, maybe the idea should have infiltrated some other moderator's mind, I wasn't pointing fingers at anyone in particular. I don't even care enough to have discussed it this much, I would have liked to stop on this a while back, but I will stop now, even the joking.

I think Asguard was designated moderator because he wouldn't rock the boat. Fetus was an abysmal failure and I have the feeling that Goofyfish probably wanted to wring his fucking neck before their time together was over. So, to make the Fish happy they set him up with a nice, complacent partner.

Wasn't he a moderator before as well? Sometime in the depths of sciforum history? I seem to recall him mentioning it somewhere down the line.
