length and time

    The length standards are defined in terms of time with reference to the original metre. What does this exactly mean and can someone give me a simple discussion of this topic?

    Hi Hevene!

    Here is a link to an article that describes the origin of the meter. I believe the link between time and length is due to the fact that the definition of the meter is now based on how far light travels in a specific time period.
