Please vote for your preferred moderator of the General Science and Technology forum.

You may vote for as many candidates as you wish. However, keep in mind that all candidates you vote for will be on an equal footing as far as your vote is concerned, so if you really prefer one candidate over the others, you are better off voting just for that nominee.

Nominations were originally posted in the following thread:

    [thread]40529[/thread]

The poll will remain open for 7 days from the time of this post.

If you are voting for any of the candidates, obviously you should not also select "None of the Above". If "None of the above" gets more votes than any of the candidates, then the election will most likely be postponed to a future date, when the process will be started again from scratch with new nominees.

There is also an "Abstain" option, for those who do not wish to influence the outcome of this election.

    To the candidates:

Please post your election speeches in this thread, so voters have some idea of what you stand for and how you will carry out the job if you are elected.

My election speech is as follows: I will moderate fairly, and not be rascist or sexist (however much you can be in technology...). I will also take care to make sure rascist/sexist/idiots are well taken care of, as well as flame wars. Vote for me. :m:

I voted for two people and the "None of the Above" and "I wish to abstain from this vote" options.

Thanks for the votes so far.

I will describe what I would probably do with the following posts that WellCookedFetus linked to:

    1. If it was posted in the Science and technology forum, I would either move it to the Cesspool or Free thoughts. It doesn't apply to science or technology. I would most likely put it in the casspool because it doesn't have much room for intelligent discussion.

    2. I would probably leave the thread alone. I would search for another thread that was previously posted about roughly the same subject and post the link to it then close the thread if all of the thread creator's questions were answered. It could also be moved to the Biology Forum because Animal intelligence is an active debate among biologists.

    3. There is some arguing and debate in that thread. I would try to direct the discussion to create something positive out of the argument. If it got out of hand, I would close the thread or send warnings to the arguees. There is some scientific discussion that is interesting that kind of fits into General Science and Technology. I wouldn't like to put the weight of another thread on another moderator's shoulders so I won't bother moving it to another forum.

    4. I would also move this one to the biology forum. It's the old animal sentience/intelligence/instinct/emotion debate. I would also be helpful by linking some old threads about animal intelligence.

    5. I would move this one to Free Thoughts. It applies to anyone, not just scientists.

I would be a common sense moderator. I would encourage relevant scientific discussions and start interesting threads about General Science and Technology (I read a lot of the latest Science articles). I visit this forum at least twice a day. I will make any forum that I am the moderator of my priority on Sciforums. Every vote counts, you won't be disappointed if I'm elected for the moderator of General Science and Technology.

I wouldn't want to dump all of the threads into other forums and then let other mods take care of them. Many of the threads in general Science & Tech can fit into other forums but I wouldn't move EVERY thread that has a possibility of fitting somewhere else.
