Do you agree with him or not? If so why, or why not? Is outsourcing a menace or a savior?

I think its bad for the people that are involved. It removes jobs that are DESPARATELY needed right now for people who arent necessarily professionals

Taking advantage of what is essentially slave labor (in most cases, at least in the manufacturing field) is always bad for everyone involved except the damned cut-throat capitalists who are willing to sacrifice any shred of human decency to make a buck.

When it comes to the issue of highly skilled Indian men and women programming computers or working in call centers. . . well it still sucks but I don't find that to be quite so morally objectionable. Hopefully those damned Indians will pave the way to form their own unions and get to a point where they have some leverage and can demand some benefits and higher wages, which will likely inevitably cut off the flow of semi-nice jobs from floating out off shore.

Though when it comes to having Indians working in a call center, it's generally a lot easier to have someone of my own culture trying to walk me through why my computer keeps blacking out while I'm downloading gay porn. I know that some tech in Iowa will just think I'm a reprehensible sexual pervert, but who knows what strange ideas India might have about my situation! I stay up late at night wondering at the sort of confusion or outrage my questions may cause them!

People are taking sides because deep down, you know, outsourcing a moderate level is good for America. But the problem is outsourcing is happening in the middle of slowdown in economy that no one has figured out how to solve. This happens because the corporate bosses are using yesterday business practices to manage the Internet Age.

For example, there are plenty of people available in southern states who can work at call centers or IT industries at very low rate, yet the New York businesses look to overseas to save a buck which they could have down south. So, basically it is not the classic supply-demand scenario but more like mismanagement and lack of innovation.

As an IT consultant living in a southern state, I get calls all the time to do stuff in New York. Sometimes I hear they are outsourced to Bangalore on a VPN connection. It is either you have to be in New York or it goes to India. I do not understand that logic.

The other part is, our much hyped next generation technology that is supposed to save us from this outsourced nightmare is atleast 15 years away. In the meantime, our actions are similar to confisticating nail clippers from airline passengers.

"next generation technology that is supposed to save us ??????????????"

What is that? Nano? LOL. It will be outsourced in no time at all. The next technology after the next one will be developed in China.
Until worldwide wealth equilibrium will be reached, no technology will save USA living standards. High end cooks and gardeners for transnational elite may save those standards though.

Just think, each month 130,000 people should enter work force = 6.24 millions in 4 years. 6.24-1=5.24 the number of jobless just due to the population growth. Still, unemployment rate is flat. Where do those people go? R&D employment picture is not simply sad, it's desperate. Probably, R&D folks are not included in the rank of professionals who should have no worry about outsourcing. On the other side, experienced truck drivers make more than 60% of R&D "professionals" out there. Why? Cause of labor R&D market is glutted. Truck driver labor market is for citizens only.
