What's up on planet Earth? A truly global answer has now been created by the Global Land One-km Base Elevation (GLOBE) Project. Pictured above is the best digital elevation map yet created for our home planet, a map it took over ten years to make that incorporates data provided by many different countries around the world. The relief map is color coded with sea level shown in black, relatively low areas shown in green, higher areas shown in brown, and the highest areas shown in white. Can you find your hometown? Clicking on the map will bring up a higher resolution version. Even more detailed versions are also available.

    COOL PIC, WET!!!

Cool pic, wet!!!1! I liked this pic so much that I made it my newest desktop wallpaper!

I am looking at Austraila and noticed a very large depression that appears like it might have been an asteroid impact area in the center of the continent!!! Man, that would be one large meteorite ! ! !

You always come up with some of the coolest pics!

    Best ever, Wet1

I love the picture but my PC couldn't click on anything. Any ideas why?

Where did you find it? Maybe I'll be able to from its original source.

    Thanks
    Teri

Put your cursor over the picture and right click and choose set as wallpaper.

    Wet1,

I was wondering whether you could find one of those pics that show the land mass before it all drifted apart?

    Feel up to the challenge?

    Well done!

That was quick. Actually I seem to remember seeing others that are more distinctively put together, like one big land mass. I'm probably thinking about the very, very old maps. This one is actually different to what I thought it would be. Well done.
