I use Bitdefender Antivirus Pro and Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro.

Too bad I had to pay such a hefty price for these. Please do not post if you have Norton products.. ;) ... only the fastest and lightest AV/Firewall products are to be marketed here!

Firewall test:
http://www.pcflank.com/trojans_test1.htm

To the left of the page you will find other security tests to see just how secure your computer is.

Ashamed because your software was unable to pass the tests? :o
Antivirus comparison tests

Second test is a bit old, BitDefender still ranks best. :D

Not ashamed at all
All Trojans' ports we scanned are stealthed (probably by a firewall). This means your system is not infected by any of these Trojan horses.

Linux Shorewall did its job well :) and it is open source/freeware :p

2nd test

The results of Stealth Test

We have sent following packets to TCP:1 port of your machine:

* TCP ping packet
* TCP NULL packet
* TCP FIN packet
* TCP XMAS packet
* UDP packet

Packet' type Status
TCP "ping" stealthed
TCP NULL stealthed
TCP FIN stealthed
TCP XMAS stealthed
UDP stealthed

Recommendation:

Your computer is invisible to the others on the Internet!

Norton, I am tech savey enough to recognize an attempted virus infection and eliminate it before it can even begin to download itself.

Norton is pretty darn good at catching the worms that I can't.

I haven't had an infection in at least 3 years on my desktop.

PFSense run from a seperate box, which means I can lockdown both incoming and outgoing ports independent of the computer as well as Packet scan which is a necessity in some instance. (Not for the faint hearted)

Bit Defender is a good one but in my view these two are the reliable and widely sued Antivirus these days...
AVAST
ESET SMART SECURITY NOD.

why am i the only person using avg?

I wouldn't know, although saying that I have found that AVG has become a resource hog now through having too many functions and additions, it's a shame though considering an Antivirus program should really just be about attempting to stop rogue code being executed or running in the background.
