Preacher, as someone with a BSc in multimedia (he boasts quite smugly) i would advise you to make your site for 1024x768 not the (pish) 800x600.
800x600 used to be the industry standard when pc's were very expensive, the average joe could not afford a fancy machine so went for something with a 15 inch monitor running windows 95. That is not a problem anymore everyone can afford a good quality pc, and with microsoft stopping support for windows ME never mind 98 and 95, the people who will not be able to view your site because of screen restrictions is minimal. And anyway those still running win 95 are probably not the type you want to view your site anyway

I use 1024x768. I could go bigger but it hurts my girlfriends eyes.

Yeah...a lot of sites are still in 800X600 though. 800X600 is so primitive now.

I Guess the site could be designed in different resolutions too.

Currently Minimum specs for site design is usually around 800x600, if people are still using 640x480 then the logs are probably not accurate.

Currently Usual Specs is 1024x768, there are a few occurances of higher, however they aren't that high currently.

Source: Multiple site logs of mine and knowledge of the net as it grows.

Well, I wouldn't be suprised if they are accurate, because 640x480 are always in conjunction with win95 or 98. There are still people with old machines out there somewhere.

    I use 1024 or 1280 interchangeably...

    bye!

i find having a resolution above 1024x768 makes the text too small so you have to increase it along with the icon size wich puts you back where you started just with more eye pain.....
