I'm not sure if I should have posted this here or in the "Site Feedback" forum, so... whatever.

I was thinking... there are lots of people here that speak many different languages and come from many different countries. Don't you think we could give some chance for the other languages? I mean.... shouldn't we valorize our diversity and take advantage of it?

That is why I'm proposing forums in different languages. It could be exactly like the forums in English, with all the categories (i.e. Free Thoughts, Art & Culture, World Events,..., Parapsychology) or it could be something smaller - a general forum.

So we could have a place where we could speak a different language. And in the case of something simple, we could split the forums in two categories: the people that speak that language fluently (advanced), and the people that are still learning (beginners and intermidiate). That would allow many of us to train our languages.

So the language forums should be the most spoken languages. I'm not sure which ones are those, but we could try to find it out, making a pool and trying to get as many people to vote as we can.

So... do you guys like that idea? Should we speak other languages at sciforums? I'm a very international person, so I would be very happy to see this going on here.

No....there isn't a large enough population of any certain speaking language posters here. Those who come here make more than due with English.

Idea is good but not enough consumers and the, build it and they will come, idea doesn't make sense.

English is the standard language for the scientific community. It seems reasonable that a science forum sticks to the same language.

    Unless you want more chat...

    TruthSeeker,

You can do this: Start a thread in About the members, for example, with a certain topic, and have it discussed in whatever language you choose. Then, the response there should give you some insight into how much people are interested into using other languages here -- if at all.

If anything we should be even stricter on language! First of all poetry or any attempt in poetry should be deleted and its spawner banished!

I don't think its rule but you can speak in any language you want... well as long as you can hold a meaningful discussion with someone else.

I dunno ... it's not like there have been any other than English threads, or at least if they have, they're not that popular, cos .. then there'd be more current ones. So I'm not sure there's demand enough for a forum, but I'm sure no-one would object if you started a thread to talk in a particular topic.

Well... this planet has 5,000 languages. I suppose we could create a forum specialized in speaking other languages. I think it would be good for all of us. We could ask other people to help us on learning new languages. Me, for example. I'm studying italian again. If I could speak italian here, I could develop much more my italian then just reading...

I still think it would be good to the scientific community. Isn't anyone here interested in at least reading other languages!?!?!?

I think we should start small before we decide on a have a sub-forum specialized for other languages, let’s start with just a thread?
