Sofia-Stratosphereic Observatory for Infrared Astronomy is a 2.5 meter telescope mounted in a modified boeing 747 making it the biggest telescope to leave earth. The plane will cruise at 39,000 to 45,000 feet which will put the scope above more than 99 percent of the infrared absorbing water vapor in earths atmosphere.......Questions, Comments?
