Most of the researchers in internet and applied physics are jumping into Complexity Science and Chaos Theory. It is a fascinating field. Anyone wants to discuss the pro and con, let us start here.

    Fetch, Crisp! -- Arf! Arf!

    Hi kmguru,

I don't think there are many pro's and con's in studying chaos theory. The reason why researchers study non-linear dynamics and chaos (they're very closely related) is because linear dynamics is pretty much understood: the maths for studying linear problems are all there, so basically a given problem has to be fed to a mathematical algorithm, and the result pops out.

This makes that linear problems are pretty boring from a theorist's point of view. With chaos and non-linearity, the fun starts
