What about a "Rants" forum in "Subcultures" for Proud Muslim and those who persistantly emulate him?

You mean like Whirlwind? Nah, that would just draw more of their kind here.

Mods can move ranting threads to rant forum and whenever Porfiry needs space he can purge all threads in the rant forum.

How about this: We call it the recycle bin and move all closed/useless threads to it. That way it won't clutter up the board. Then we should make it to where posting there doesn't increase your post count... Wait, we've got free thoughts.

How about this: why don't we start a subforum where people can constantly bitch about those whom they disagree with. Oh never mind, it I am already within it. Shut the fuck up already.

Even if Porf didn't feel like coding the "doesn't increase your post count" it would still be useful... and stop people from complaining about locked threads.

Honestly, this seems like a reasonable idea. Threads that go abusive in the main forums could be moved to the "Trash" instead of being closed. Members would get the chance to vent their frustrations in a place that low profile - hopefully raising overall quality of the content within the primary forums. It would be made clear that insults and personal vendettas be placed only in the "Trash" and no where else on the forum.

Isn't that called Kiddie Korner on other forums?

I like the idea because it would be easier to avoid a subforum than it is bad posts in good threads.

What's to stop this from turning into a Flame forum? I voted yes, though. I'm okay with the idea.

Then I would consider, and I really mean this, that it should be watched 24/7. The last thing we need is for someone to start posting porn or something there. I just recommend keeping it safe for work.

A strict moderator to only allow over zealous threads and rant threads?....Good idea. All the spam and advertising deleted upon sight.

I'd love that job.

I like the idea as long as its called "recycling bin" or "Garbage" "Junk yard" "Trash Bin", ect some name that describes the value of the threads inside of it. It should also be moved just below "site feedback" so it can be placed at the bottom of the forum home page so that few can see it and burn their eyes.

I agree, WCF. A recycle bin on other forums has been used the same way.

Check it out, the first victum is ready:

The "recycling bin" or what ever name will be given to it should have these properties
1. All threads closed because of faming, trolling, stupidity, ect should be moved here, basically all threads closed that have no value in future reference should be moved here.
2. Some threads such as flaming threads could be left open so that members can vent the childish anger far way from the more respectable placed of this forum
3. this sub-forum should have all of its post periodically deleted ever couple of weeks. By doing this server space can be saved because all the crap from the other sub-forums can be moved and deleted from existence and the space they took can be reused for better threads. Also it makes the forum look better because all the threads that are a shame to this forum can be wiped from existence.

This idea has appeal; will it be implemented, and, if so, can I be the moderator of the subforum?

I will change my title to Trash Collector or Dump Truck or Garbage Man or Smasher Robot... please?

EDIT:

See! I'm ready!

there won't be much there to moderate just a lot of closed threads and flaming wars.

That's cool.
I'd even clean house every few weeks or whenever.

I'd vote for you, we need another mod as unpopular as I am. :)

It's such a simple task; everybody should know that I can't mess it up. I'm not that mentally challenged.

Besides, I feel that I'd enjoy it more than anybody else.

Maybe there should be a thread where there are flaming wars. Then the people who aren't stable enough to act normally in a forum can go there and let out some steam. It can be like a Free Thoughts forum on drugs. There should be no mods there either. Just an outright fight! Who will prevail?

heh, to my surprise I actually agree. If a garbage/recycle thread is made (a great way to move the repetitive rants, especially religious and political) I think it should be no holds barred, give the extremists and newbies a place to REALLY go at it. The endless "Jews and/or Arabs are evil" or "God and/or Science is dead" threads will never .. ever stop.

Why not give'm a place to duke it out while leaving the rest of the forum free of the repetition?

A flame forum on this website? Ohhhh, I can't wait. Muwhahahahahahhaahha!!!!111one

seriously though, flames are an inevitable part of forums. Why not give them a place to go? Most flamers and repeaters don't consider themselves as such, they really think they're making truly original points. Let them have a place to do their thing. I have certainly posted my share of crap but it didn't seem like that to me at the time, I'd have loved a place where I could go to expel the ideas I thought were original.

After a year or so in this forum I understand the complaints about repetitive threads but it takes time here to really get it (at least that was the case for me).

An open place to vent this stuff could only help. If you have passed that point you can just ignore it, that's got to be better than what we have now.

I think a rants forum is a good idea, but for the whole forums, and not just the sub-culture one.

How about "Soylent Green" for a name? It somehow seems fitting (and right on the 'Sci' theme)

Police Detective Thorn: I know, Sol, you've told me a hundred times before. People were better, the world was better...

Sol Roth: Ah, people were always lousy. But there was a world, once.

Police Detective Thorn: {chuckles}

Sol Roth: I was there, I can prove it! When I was a kid, you could buy meat anywhere! Eggs they had, real butter! Not this... crap!

The Cesspool forum has been created. Its primary point is to clear the filth from the main forums (Free Thoughts included). In general, I would not post new threads there. If you really want to behave like a moron, sciforums isn't the place for it. Rather, the moderators have been told to move any offending threads there. This forum will be purged on a regular basis.
