I think we need at lest one dedicated moderator for each sub-forum. This would:
    1. Get improperly placed threads moved or deleted quicker.
    2. Lock flaming or trolling threads quicker.
    3. Have kook thread combined and clear space.

I original was only for getting more moderators for specific sub-forums, but by getting a moderator for every sub-forum would allow for the occasional crap thread in even the nicest of sub-forums to get dealt with quickly.

Yes. I think several mods are needed. I think Pseudoscience and Parapsychology should both have one, the same goes for some other sections. I would also say that Free Thoughts needs one, and I haven't seen Congrats* in about forever... Should A&C get a new one to?

Is there a time limit on this poll wcf?
If not it will just last forever and be ignored.

Do we have any candidate moderators for every subforum?

I guess I could 'volunteer' for the biology subforum, but Fetus is probably also aiming for that one.

    Dr Lou Natic
the time limit is when it reaches quorum, porfiry decides it and set up elections or not, and this thread is closed. As I have mentioned before it take much longer then one week to finish, and I'm seriously not sure how long it takes.

Really name a kook moderator? A kook being one who comes here obsessed with only one issue or subject and lacks much or any standing in logic.

    but all this is

Now I count 16 sub-forums without moderators or mods that have not log on in over a month. that alot of election thing sure will be fun around here if that happend. I should get the signs and banners ready!

I don't think each subforum needs an individual mod. Some subforums (computer/tech) just need someone to peek in every once in awhile.

I think free thoughts should not have a moderator, as goofyfish is already doing what needs to be done there, and having a full-time moderator would be unnecessary, but that some subforums need an updated moderator (arts & culture) or at least a part-time moderator, to check in every so often, as Persol remarked.

Goofyfish is already actively moderating the sub-forums. So no, we don't need any more moderators.

As mentioned previously (in another thread) I'm up for Pseudoscience, and could probably Push Paraspycology.

My ruleset would be simple: Constructive Criticism is welcome!, but personal heckling will be dealt with by being put on the Howling Monkey™ list of feces throwers.
Okay, it's not so much a real list, but the aspect of heckling, mockery and insults isn't tolerable as it tends to degrade the levels of intellect to below that of one of Fluids Rocks.

I also point out that I will not single one individual out because of their comments on a subject and if they differ from my own understanding of events (This is something rare that true moderators should understand and take from Philosophy in the sense that if you can not see something from multiple angles then your not seeing something for what it truly is, but what you hypothesis it is.)

The sections in question however do need a clean up from people insulting one another. I know Goofyfish has been doing a good job, but the poor guy has been turned into an Octopus with the amount of editing he has to do between all the subforums he swims through. (Using a Tenticle to moderate each forum)

With all that said, I direct you now, back to the current thread
