hi all

i want to ask some people more familiar with astronomy what they think of all the other galaxies that abound our universe.

my main point, or perhaps i should call it a question is:

- what do you think the different types (classes) of galaxies signifies?

in other words, there must obviously be some differences in the way the galaxy works. let me ask some other questions, forgive me if some sound a bit un-intelligent.

- all galaxies spin , correct? even irregulars?
- do they all spin in the same direction? CW, CCW ?
- do we have any idea of the main composition of other galaxies? (ours is carbon based? or is the carbon-based only limited to our solar system?
- what do we know about the centers of galaxies (non-spiral) ?
- do all spiral galaxies have a black hole in the center? do other types of galaxies have black holes in the center?

these a few questions i can think of. now let me give some of my own ideas:

i have come to believe that galaxies dictate several factors for the functions and life within it (planets, stars, lifeforms, etc)
to go further, i have made some pretty wild acquisations:
i believe the speed of light isnt constant everywhere, more specifically, the speed limit of light varies from galaxy to galaxy. i think this is related to the galaxy's composition, but more importantly the rotation and gravity within the galaxy, proportionate to the total mass also. the details i know not, its pure idea. i do not think we can measure the speed of light outside of our own reference frame, which is earth at this moment. (i am not anti-relativity or anything like that, i do believe much of physics and quantum theory, i just think it should be limited to our own earth, and maybe our galaxy)

i believe that lifeforms vary in galaxies, and this may seem like common sense. what i mean is the alien sighitngs and alien "picture" we have in mind is of a small , yet still humanoid figure. this to me says that they are defenitely from within our own galaxy. but the next step is to create logical formulas to calculate how life would be different.

if i had to take a stab at it, it would go something like this:

spiral galaxies produce bi-pedal humanoids.

unfortunately that is all i can go on right now, unless i throw some off-the-wall speculation based on sci-fi movies and conspiracy theories (im not saying sci fi is bad, it actually gives us some insight)

i would also say that elliptical galaxies could produce lifeforms quite similar to us, perhaps still bi-pedal but not humanoid. this is guessing.

but can we try and imagine what lenticular galaxies would produce? what do we know about these other classes of galaxies?

spiral
elliptical
lenticular
irregular

are there any other types? combinations of 2 types?
and what do we know about galaxies colliding into one another??

thats it for now, until the light bulb turns on again.
