Um...did you read the article? They think its Viking 2 due to its orbit fitting with what they see, given its north-south polar orbit.

Weather Balloon? An intergalactic Starbucks? WMD ? The Met Life Blimp? :)
Look to the right just above the horizon. (http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/n/033/2N129300816EFF0327P1730L0M1.JPG)
It seems as if the object in question is triangular in shape...
Here's a link (http://wintersteel.homestead.com/UFO_Mars.html) showing it up close.
I thought these were a nice addition to the one you already provided.

We'll never know what it was, until we investigate,...Spirit is neither equipped to do so and neither is it it's mission plan.
We might as well send humans to those Pyramid Artifacts our ancestors left behind when their planet was destroyed by asteroids slamming into it.

hehe :) as a matter of fact! My altime favorite though is 2001:a space odyssey:)
Fifth Element
Blade Runner
Red mars
But what if you discovered piramids on mars,...would you tell the rest of the world?
Maby they're afraid to be ridiculed so they keep it a secret, that's much more convenient and easy...
Imagine What kind of an impact that would have on today's society and culture (shock!)
No?
