Is there a way for a layman to test his testosterone level?

if you mean quantitavily (ie, "after peeing on this test strip, I know I have a testoterone count of 35ppm"), then I don't know of any.
If you mean in general, it can be figured out pretty well by looking at how the person acts/reacts in certasin situations. Higher level of testosterone tend to associate with shorter tempers, more desire for compitition/exersize, etc. And football. American football is like a testosterone magnet. Ruh,ruh, ruh! Rugby is the indicator anywhere else in the world.
If you really want to know, you can have it measured from a blood sample.

yep. I've had that done. if you're under 25, be warned that the test result may make your ego grow ;) (and start you worrying about losing hair)
