I helped a friend write his introduction to a nature-nurture essay
tonight and in doing so, came across a Jung Typology sheet (for
    more, http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm) and
immediately wondered if a study was conducted to verify the
average IQ for each of the 16 different possible types. Have you
ever seen such a study ? I would be very interested in the
results; in fact, if no research has been done on this topic, I will
do one for myself and post the results here for your consideration.

Well , hold hands in a circle and get out the Ouija boards ...

Carl Jung also thought astrology was valid . How many fabricators and outright quacks can this profession endure ?

" I must say that I very often found that the astrological data elucidated certain points which I otherwise would have been unable to understand. From such experiences I formed the opinion that astrology is of particular interest to the psychologist..." - Jung

I didn't ask for opinions on Jung or his research interests, Abnak.

My question was very specific: please, stay on topic.

To briefly answer your post: Jung thought the study of Astrology
could help illuminate certain aspects of the human psyche which,
without its help, he would not have been able to fully comprehend.
Humans were very interested (and still are) in it and thus, it can
be used to study people, the reasons for the interest, et cetera.

Even so, his belief in Astrology doesn't diminish any of his accomplishments.

Since Jung typology was your topic , I thought Jung's methodology should be questioned .

" In cases of difficult psychological diagnosis I usually get a horoscope in order to have a further point of view from an entirely different angle. " - Jung

" The fact that it is possible to reconstruct a person's character fairly accurately from his birth data shows the relative validity of astrology. " - Jung

I think he picked up a horoscope to help him with diagnosis because he ran out of different ways to invent .

The method used by most astrologers and many psychologists is to just make stuff up as they go along .
To assign an intelligence quotient to a group of people based on generalizing and faulty reasoning enters into the domain of pseudo - science ( an activity resembling science but based on fallacious assumptions )

Skeptics dictionary has already debunked this typology nonsense.
The web link is : http://skepdic.com/myersb.html. For further info on Jung himself: http://skepdic.com/jung.html.
Basically, companies make a killing giving people astrology predictions as to who they think you should be. Its basically a really dumbed down version of astrology for credophile americans, and gullible companies. Hey, even here at "The worlds most well known medical school" The Meyers-Briggs people are coming to do free "readings."

Clear example of poisoning the well.

I am again frustrated by my own expectations but I've found
solace elsewhere so all is not lost for this project. By the way,
my results are indeed showing strong correlation between
certain rare types and computational power: if anyone is still
interested, I will post the relevant data in the future. Most IQ
societies are inhabited predominantly by NF and NT types and
they also happen to be the rarest types found in society.

I saw a quizzy, but no correlations (which is what I was expecting..) so I guess your asking if anybody has such a link?

I'd be interested to see it too. Oh -- and I'd like to see these Jung-bashers come up with some theories of their own.

maybe you could post an outline of your concept
so i may better understand what you are targeting in the realm types
as these types may be interpreted in different ways
not the whole list but just an example
and where you see your research heading

    1. you have a very good point in genral
    2. good luck on finding a relative means of defining these without hitting some walls of predjudice
    3. there are obviouse "types" that will be atracted to certain profesions
    and....
just to give you a little hint
what would a disfunction do in one type to be a potential representation of another type!?!?!

i think your idea of a study is a great idea
just dont expect to have conservative profesionals entertain it in any public manner
