America gives out tons of aid (military, financial and food) all over the world, saving lives in countless countries and at the same time inducing conflict. All aid comes with a price, be it, interest, political, resources etc. Nothing is free. The only free item are the lives of fellow americans be it, military, secret service, overseas operatives etc. Seriously, what do these guys get? A medal, a state burial, shakes hands with the president, danger bonus added to your paycheck... (some don't even get recoginised when they make the ultimate sacrifice) What was it all for, flag, country, ideology, "our way of life", political agendas or greed, does it matter? Lets see what kind of response I get. Thanks for reading.
They get early retirement- 20 years, benefits for housing, loans, ect. They all have respectable jobs that pays them good salaries and pay for their families healthcare, ect... Every job have a risk. Civil jobs have the risk of layoffs, injuries, and even death. Working for the army have a small risk that you might loose your life. Actually, any job have the risk that you might loose your life. Construction, Policemen, ect.... Now a day, the risk of dying in combat is very small compared to other professions. We have a chance of being in a real war of 1 every five years, and during these wars, we end up loosing less than half a percent of our army.
The way America is going a career in the Military is looking like the only sure fire way for a good future for many young Americans. Its a shame that to have a bright future you have to sell your sole to the likes of GWB for x number of years. And even those benefits are being slowly and surely cut so whilst your in the Millitary your on top, as soon as you leave or cannot serve you get shafted like the rest of the population.
Alas a military job in America pays crap. A garbage man will often make more. (of course their Union has mafia support)
