In Transylvania, half of the inhabitants were human, half of them vampires. The humans and vampires are indistinguishable in their outward appearance, but the humansalways tell the truth and the vampires always lie. Additionally, half of the Transylvanians are insane and deluded in their beliefs (they believe all true propositions to be false and all false ones to be true). The other half is sane. Therefore the inhabitants can be classified in four categories: 1 - sane humans 2 - insane humans 3 - sane vampires 1 - insane vampires Whenever one of them says something, it is 1 - true 2 - false 3 - false 4 - true respectively. We call those who make true statements reliable and those who make false statements unreliable. The Riddles 1 - Is there a single statement a Transylvanian could make which would convince you that Dracula is still alive and also that the statement is false? 2 - Suppose a Transylvanian made the following two statements: (a) I am sane. (b) I believe that Count Dracula is dead. Could it be inferred whether Dracula is alive? 3 - Suppose a Transylvanian made the following two statements: (a) I am human (b) If I am human then Count Dracula is still alive. Could it be determined whether Dracula is still alive? 4 - Can you in one question find out from a Transylvanian whether or not he is a vampire? 5 - Can you in one question find out from a Transylvanian whether or not he's sane? 6 - What question could you ask a Transylvanian which will force him to answer "Yes", regardless of which of the four types (s)he is? 7 - Can you in one question find out from a Transylvanian whether Count Dracula is still alive?
Nice riddles....too lazy and stupid to figure them out, however, i believe count dracula is dead and the village needs therapists...lots of them.
All I know is that #2 will always be false, since believing and knowing are two different things.. I'm sending my drunk ass off to bed now...
1 - Is there a single statement a Transylvanian could make which would convince you that Dracula is still alive and also that the statement is false? I am Dracula and a women. (Count as 1 statement?) 2 - Suppose a Transylvanian made the following two statements: (a) I am sane. (b) I believe that Count Dracula is dead. Could it be inferred whether Dracula is alive? Assuming this says 'I know that Dracula is dead'.... No, they could be sane humans - telling the truth, drac is dead 3 - Suppose a Transylvanian made the following two statements: (a) I am human (b) If I am human then Count Dracula is still alive. Could it be determined whether Dracula is still alive? sane human - truth - ALIVE insane human - lie - wouldn't say they are human sane vampire - lie - translates to 'I human -> drac dead' - ALIVE insane vampire - truth - wouldn't say they are human Dracula is alive
