Class Rings (Latin Needed) Well I want one... And simply the company that makes the rings for the school is crap. I REALLY dont want a ring with a cheap ass alloy and a simulant stone (not even Synthetic.... So Im making my own. Its white gold with a black star sapphire. Yeah, its going to be sweet. What I need now is a Latin incription... I just find the language very cool and intriguing and I figure a cool latin saying would be cool. So anyone know any Latin? Its not really a class ring. Its a ring that symbolizes my teenage years. It really has nothing to do with school... at all. Ive narrowed it down to: *Bis repetita placent: The things that please are repeated again and again Horatius *##Exegi monumentum aere perennius: I have raised a monument more durable than bronze. Horatius *###Felix qui potuit rerum cognoscere causas: Fortunate is he who has been able to learn the causes of things. Virgil Georgica2,490 ***Gnothi seauton (Greek): Know thyself.(lat. Nosce te Ipsum) ***##Mens sana in corpore sano: A sound mind in a sound body. Juvenalis *#Non omnia possumus omnes: We cannot all do everything Virgil **Sol lucet omnibus: The sun shines for everyone. Petronius ****Ad astra per aspera ~ To the stars through trials *Pulvis et umbra sumus ~ We are but dust and shadow **Tempus edax rerum ~ Time is the devourer of all things (Ovid) **##Veni, vidi, nates calce concidi. ~ I came, I saw, I kicked ass. Where # denotes how unlikely according the the number of them because of length... only have one ring to write it all on! And where * denotes now much I like them... the more *, the more I like
HahaHahahaha. Nonne hiems, quae incendiis magnis multisque belli inter gentes omnes tertii inducator, inhibeat orbem terrarum ne nimium calescat? Wouldn't nuclear winter cancel out the greenhouse effect?
I think I narrowed it down a bit more: **Bis repetita placent: The things that please are repeated again and again --Horatius ***Exegi monumentum aere perennius: I have raised a monument more durable than bronze. Horatius ****Nosce te Ipsum: Know thyself ****Mens sana in corpore sano: A sound mind in a sound body--Juvenalis *Ad astra per aspera ~ To the stars through trials ( I dont know on the accuracy of this one here and I think its already the motto of Kentucky so I dont know If I want it now...) **Tempus edax rerum ~ Time is the devourer of all things (Ovid) ***Veni, vidi, nates calce concidi. ~ I came, I saw, I kicked ass.
Most students but a ring that has activies and designs incribed on them made from a cheap ass alloy with a rhine stone... what is the world coming to? My ring will be white gold, Black star sapphire, latin incribed and have everything to do with me and nothing to do with school.... so it really isnt a class ring I guess Later T
alloy? synthetic? my school had damn expensive rings out of thick (i mean these things are big) gold or silver or both with emeralds in the cut of your choice and any symbols/designs/patterns on the sides and/or carved in the opposite side of the stone (so it's underneath and shows on top). you can also get it inscribed on the outside or inside of the band in your choice of font. there were too many choices and each made it more expensive. i got the simplest i could: gold/silver alloy, no symbols, simple pattern and latin inscriptions on the band, flat top faceted cut stone, initials inside band. it was as cheap as you can get them, just over 300. and i hardly ever wore it past senior year.
Interesting..... ya most the crap they had was crap... Latin incriptions? What did you get? I actually might get it incribed on the outside instead of the inside
damned if i know. all around the outside there are carvings of the school's shield and mottos. it's a fancy pants private school. it meant nothing to me. it's a great idea to make a ring that is personal to you.

Damn, I was gonna suggest sol lucet omnibus. Tis what my ring says. Though I had to wait till I took Latin to figure that out! Nosce te Ipsum-I like that!
I didn't get a class ring, I figured my parents could use the money to buy me a computer instead. Of course, they didn't the cheap bastards. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
