hmm.. i was always the last minute kid, and since i switch schools a handful time in elemntary i lways did the same project. putting skewer sticks through balloons and not making them pop. ok. so i had little imagination, and my parents refused to give me ny of their time, but it kept the adults busy. lol.

I am wondering what age this Science Fair is? Usually there are categories such as collections, demonstration, model and experiment. I've managed an elementary science fair for 10 years and the judges are most impressed with experiments. It is important to use a number of resources, such as books, magazines, websites, videotapes, as well as visiting a science museum or calling an expert in the field and interviewing them. Be sure to record all your sources. You should have the proper components: title, introduction, illustrations/diagrams, data collected and conclusions. On doing an experiment you need to state your hypothesis on what you think will happen, tell how you conducted your experiment, and list your conclusions. Choose a topic in a field that interests you. For instance, I might choose to investigate Black Smokers and how the tubeworms live under such extreme conditions. That might be hard to do an experiment on, however I could do an ocean dynamix experiment relating to that. You could try looking at the latest news in science and see what catches your fancy. Try http://eurekalert.org and look in the different categories.

Earlier on, you had asked all of us to write an essay for you. It turned out that you didn't infact want us to write an essay for you, but rather to demonstrate how pathetic we were (which BTW you never really accomplished.) So my question is this: Do you actually want an idea, or have ulterior motives? If it's ideas you want, you should probably think of your own. That's the spirit of science fair -- creativity, innovation and what have you. All from your own mind. Not an easy trick that'll earn you corporate bucks.(The companies are paying for you to learn something.)
I decided not to do my project in 6th grade until the night before. Iw as going to make an electromagnet, but I screwed it up somehow. SO I just took the iron filings I had and sprinkles them on a candle. The other kids thought it was cool, but the red hot floating pieces of metal were not so popular with the teachers.
