    Does anyone know how Tom Morello (RATM, Audioslave) uses the toggle switch to create the tremelo effect?

    I mean, I know he turns down the volume of one pickup and then just flicks the pickup switch. But how does he actually play the notes? Is he just using hammer-ons and pull-offs? If so, his tone must give him amazing sustain.

    There should be a guitar forum here

    hehe...

    Reformed;

    When I was looking at "Who's Online" I saw you replying to this post and was expecting you to post something like how Mr. Morello is over-rated, like our debate about Tool.

    At least we see eye to eye SOME of the time

    Neb-

    nice to agree with you on SOMETHING. lol. what do you all think about audioslave? better, worse, or equal to RATM? I definately think Rage was better. Also, from what i've heard, Morello isn't given as much a chance to shine like he was in Rage. Or am i wrong? i havn't heard the whole cd...

    Again I'd have to agree with you. At the moment I'm writing a paper on Che Guevara for Poli Sci, and thus I've been listening to RATM a lot lately to put myself in the proper mood.

    RATM definitely has a more defined vibe than Audioslave. I've only heard a few Audioslave songs, but they really don't do much for me. I think it will be hard for any of the ex-members of RATM to outdo or even come close to matching what they did in that band.

    I'm running out of things to say though, it's supposed to be 3000 words and I only have about 900.

    It's an analytical biography, so I have to talk about what shaped his views, how successful he was etc. Any suggestions? If so, please hurry, because it's already 4 days late

    I read somewhere sometime that he actually used a one of a kind "defective" guitar for that effect. It was defective and for some reason he started playing it, liked the effect it made and kept it to himself. *shrug*

    I'll have to see if I can find that article.

    *Edit*
    hmm maybe I was thinking of the wrong effect and wrong guitar. Maybe it would help if I actually knew something about guitars.

    audioslave is not as good as RATM... i bought it to hear morello's guitars.. but he's not done anythin that great wit em in this album... he def had a bigger impact in RATM... plus zack's vocals were da bomb

    RATM were incredible, but the first audioslave song i heard was just incredible. It is the one with fireworks in the video, i can never remember the damn name! I think RATM has better albums at the moment though, but i think audioslave can achieve more

    I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, even when it is SO obviously wrong!
