    Hi all,

I am attempting to install a full, valid version of Win98se of a clean, properly partioned and formatted drive. Everything goes fine until I attempt to run setup.exe from DOS, then I get a message saying "Microsoft Windows Required", and then I can go no further.

I'm confused. Any suggestions or advice?

    Thanks in advance

I think I've seen this happen before with one of my installs.
It happened because the disk was an "Upgrade" rather than "Installation" disc.

None the less I think there is a way around it.

Make sure your in c: drive then:

    Mkdir Windows

Then try running the setup, this will make the install see a windows folder and the install will think that their is a windows installed on the system although I think to it, it will seem corrupt and makes it need a reinstall. (thus it should run.)

If your CD drive is say E then you should type E: return then setup.
    have you done this?

Yes, I am in the right drive, everything was formatted correctly, fdisk and all that. I have set the boot to cd with no luck.

Basically, what I need to know is where I can launch the setup through DOS. I heard there was a way.

    Thanks
